Is fat flush water just a fad or is it the real deal?

According to Kim Lyons, who revealed the neat trick and hyped-up this new kind of water on “The Biggest Loser,” fat flush water is the first step to trim fat for good.

The ingredients are no more than 5, really, as stated on doctoroz.com: water, grapefruit, tangerine, cucumber and peppermint. Below are short explanations as to why the ingredients are essential in helping flush out fat, according to the website.

Water splash on grapefruit with mint isolated on white

Grapefruit – loaded with vitamin C to help your body turn fat into fuel

tangerine or mandarin fruit isolated on white background cutout

Tangerine – increases your sensitivity to insulin, stabilizes blood sugar, and stimulates genes to burn fat

Cucumber water in the transparent pitcher - background

Cucumber – helps you feel full and acts as a natural diuretic, which means less bloating and water retention

ice cube with mint leaves on it

Peppermint – refreshing and promotes better digestion and stomach calm

Directions:

  • Combine ingredients in a large pitcher.
  • Drink at least one 8 ounce glass three times a day before each meal for 10 days straight.

Take note, fat flush water, although named as such, does not literally flush fat out of your body. It does rid your body of toxins and some people claim it helps them lose weight but coupled with exercise and healthy eating.

Also, people who are taking any type of medication should be wary of grapefruit. MedicineNet.com explains:

“Grapefruit juice blocks special enzymes in the wall of the small intestine that actually destroys many medications and prevents their absorption into the body. Thus, smaller amounts of the drugs get into the body than are ingested. When the action of this enzyme is blocked, more of the drugs get into the body and the blood levels of these medications increase. This can lead to toxic side effects from the medications.”

So does that mean no more fat flush water for those under medication? Definitely not! Try out green tea, cranwater and just plain water. Read more about these non-grapefruit fat flush water recipes on SkinnyMs.com and don’t forget to consult your doctor before going all-out!
